Warranties Explained
There are two main types on New Car Warranties.
Vehicle Manufacturer's Warranty
- A vehicle manufacturer’s warranty is a promise to the consumer that the vehicle will be free from defects for a certain period of time. In the event of any defects, the consumer is entitled to a repair or compensation by the vehicle manufacturer.
- For this type of warranty, new vehicle servicing is permitted at Car Service workshops, as vehicles are serviced in accordance with the manufacturer’s requirements:
- Servicing is carried out according to the manufacturer’s instructions by qualified trained technicians
- Quality replacement parts are used
- Fluids and lubricants also meet manufacturer’s specifications
- After servicing your new car at Car Service, we will stamp your vehicle service booklet and your manufacturer’s warranty will remain safe. It will not void your warranty.
Extended warranties offered by dealers
- It is common practice for car dealers to offer their own extended warranties on new cars. These usually begin at the completion of the manufacturer’s warranty.
- A common requirement for an extended dealers warranty is that the car be serviced by the dealer offering the warranty. In this instance, an independent workshop such as 4WD Car Service will void the warranty if they service the car under this extended warranty.
- If you are unsure of the conditions of your extended warranty by the dealer, please ask us.
