Not surprisingly, Tesla made up around 70% of total EVs sold and registered in Australia. One of the main barriers to buying an EV is still the cost. The battery itself making up the majority of the production cost of the vehicle (although new advancements in this market is seeing this cost slowly come down). Another barrier has traditionally been the lack of WA government incentives and supporting infrastructure. However the State government has allocated funding to improve this and encourage more people to buy EVs. One out of two RAC members have indicated they would consider buying an EV when they next purchase a car.
